What Sets Vandenberg Apart

Ryan Vandenberg founded this company as a finish carpenter — that background drives the quality standard on every drywall project we take on:

  • Upfront pricing — Your estimate reflects the real cost. No low-ball bids padded with change orders.
  • All permits managed — We pull every required permit and coordinate inspections. You don’t navigate the permitting process yourself.
  • Licensed subcontractors — Every sub is licensed and insured and held to our quality standard.
  • 3D design consultation — Available for most projects so you see what’s being built before it starts.

Drywall FAQs

Level 5 is the highest finish standard — a full skim coat over the entire surface creating a completely flat substrate. Specified where high-sheen paints are used or where critical lighting will reveal imperfections. Level 4 is standard for most new construction.

An average bedroom (12x14) takes one to two days to hang, tape, and first-coat. Total cycle from hang to sand-ready is 5–7 days for a standard finish. Northern Idaho humidity affects dry times seasonally.

Both. We patch repairs from water damage, door impacts, and previous work. For patches, we texture-match rather than skim an entire wall when that’s the practical solution.

5/8" on ceilings to prevent sag; 1/2" on walls for most applications. Fire-rated assemblies require Type X. Moisture-resistant board in bathrooms. We specify the right product for the application.

Yes, with the building envelope closed and heat running. Joint compound requires above 55°F to cure properly, so we make sure the mechanical is running before mudding — standard practice on every winter project.
